As a woman who cannot imagine feeling anything but awe for a man who understands how beautiful worship is, it's easy for me to forget that the rest of the world doesn't see it that way. Recently I realized with a shock how hard it must be to be a sexually submissive man in a world that constantly bombards us with the message that men initiate, men take, men assert, men provide, men control, men fuck. Because women are told how to look, act, be -- but everyone acknowledges how wrong and destructive it is. There's (almost) nobody out there saying, Look, these messages about universal masculinity destroy hearts and lives, and they need to stop.
